The soul of Mid-Autumn Festival in Dali, west Yunnan’s Dali Bai autonomous prefecture, lies in the mooncakes made over charcoal fire. 

Slowly baked over an earthen oven outdoors, the crust comes out golden, crisp, and fragrant, while the filling is hearty and full. With one bite, you can taste the warmth of local life.
