The Jingwai Mingde Primary School in Xuanwei city, east Yunnan’s Qujing, has fused physical education into labor-skill education for nearly 20 years. Here, each teacher is a coach.

The primary school is a full boarding rural primary school. Its more than 450 students come from multiple ethnic groups, and about 70 percent are left-behind children.

The school has opened a farm of about 20 mu (1.3 hectares) on campus, offering two labor education classes per week, and it has more than 10 courses including housekeeping, area greening, and vegetable planting.

The school also has a small zoo, raising more than 20 kinds of animals such as sika deer, ostriches, and peacocks. As a practical platform for popular science, the zoon allows students to raise the animals and learn about animal habits at the same time.

Since 2019, the school has set up one physical education class every day and arranged three hours of exercise daily. It offers more than 10 sports clubs including football, basketball, and floor hockey.
