The Yunnan International Communication Center for South and Southeast Asia (YICC) presented Chinese books to the Confucius Institute at the Sri Lankan University of Colombo.
The book-giving was done via a handover ceremony for the "Southern Messengers" mobile bookcase on September 12 local time.
The fifth volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China in both Chinese and English, along with 30 other works including A History of the Indian Ocean and The Sea and Civilization, traveled across mountains and seas to Sri Lanka.
These books will open a new window for local youth to understand Chinese-style modernization and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
The event attendees said they will organize diverse reading activities around the bookcase. By telling the Chinese wisdom, concepts and solutions to Sri Lankan readers, the books will enhance mutual understanding between China and Sri Lanka.
Since February 2026, the "Southern Messengers" bookcase by YICC has been set up at the National Library of Laos, the National University of Laos, and the China Cultural Center in Yangon, Myanmar.
