Sanjaya Baru: Indians are encouraged to see a real China

Whether in China or India, there are many misconceptions between the people of both countries, said Sanjaya Baru, Media Advisor and Chief Spokesperson to the former Prime Minister of India. Baru said this during the 2026 Global Mayors Dialogue· Xishuangbanna event, which was be held in south Yunnan’s Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture from July 14 to 16. "I have always encouraged more Indians to come to China, to see what contemporary China looks like, and to understand the trajectory of China's development. Only then can they gain a deeper understanding of China through the journey of its economic rise," he noted.
