The rice fields in Ninglang Yi autonomous county, northwest Yunnan’s Lijiang city, are turning golden these days, forming a spectacular harvest scene in late autumn.
Ninglang was established as a Yi autonomous county in 1956, directly entering the socialist society from a primitive tribal one. Ninglang just marked its 70th anniversary on October 15, when people of all ethnic groups across the county gathered together to witness the great changes.
In Hongqiao township, one of Ninglang's main grain-producing areas, about 11,000 mu of rice is planted each year, which was impossible in the past because of drought. Now reservoirs and irrigation facilities provide support for agricultural production. The golden fields carry the farmers' hard work and also embody their hopes for a good harvest.

The cultivation of specialty agricultural products has also added momentum to Ninglang's agricultural development. Focusing on plateau red rice, the area has introduced scientific and technological strength to carry out variety breeding and the promotion of planting techniques.
By growing seasonal rice, improving product quality and enriching business models, Ninglang has focused on rural revitalization, exploring ways to transform agricultural resources into industrial advantages.
