10th CSAE opens in Yunnan, ushering new opportunities for regional cooperation

The 10th China-South Asia Exposition (CSAE) and the 30th China Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair opened June 11at the Kunming Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center in central Yunnan’s Kunming city.

He Wei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, said that in recent years, China and South Asian countries have worked together to uphold the spirit of openness, cooperation, and inclusiveness, aligning the Belt and Road Initiative with the development strategies of South Asian nations and deepening pragmatic cooperation across various fields. 

He Wei noted that China will continue to join hands with South Asian countries to write a new chapter of cooperation for accelerated development and revitalization. He welcomed all participants to seize more cooperation opportunities through this event, achieve more fruitful results, and create a brighter future together.

Wang Ning, Secretary of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee, said that Yunnan looks forward to working with all parties to enhance the expo's platform capabilities and create a more favorable environment for open development.

By innovating trade channels for merchandise, e-commerce, computing power, and other service trade areas, the province aims to promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, foster people-to-people bonds through economic and trade exchanges, and jointly drive regional prosperity and development.

Political leaders and dignitaries from Laos, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and other countries spoke highly of the achievements of the CSAE, congratulating on China and Yunnan's development accomplishments in the new era. 

They noted that China has always been committed to expanding opening-up and promoting shared regional prosperity, injecting certainty and positive energy into a world fraught with changes and challenges.

The consecutive success of the expo has provided an important platform for global partners, including those from South Asia and Southeast Asia, to share in China's development opportunities. 

They added they will use the expo as a platform to deepen economic and trade cooperation, enhance people-to-people exchanges, expand collaboration in emerging fields, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, create a bright future for regional cooperation, and contribute more to world peace and development.

This year's expo continues with the theme of "Solidarity and Cooperation for Common Development" and runs from June 11 to 16. A total of 68 countries, regions, and international organizations participated, covering all South Asian, Southeast Asian, and RCEP member states. More than 560 enterprises from eight South Asian countries are exhibiting.

For the first time, companies from 45 countries, including Germany, Brazil and Egypt, took part in procurement activities, and diplomatic missions from seven countries, including Italy, Uruguay, and Australia, also participated.
