Yunnan to deepen cooperation with S&SE Asian countries
Yunnan Party Secretary Wang Ning and Yunnan Governor Wang Yubo met on June 12 with leaders from South and Southeast Asian nations, expressing the provincial commitment to strengthening and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with these countries. The leaders were here in central Yunnan’s Kunming city, attending the on-going 10th China-South Asia Exposition (CSAE) and the 7th China-South Asia Cooperation Forum.

During his meeting with Barrister Kayser Kamal, Deputy Speaker of the Bangladesh National Parliament, Wang Ning said China and Bangladesh are friendly neighbors with a long history of exchanges. Driven by the guidance of the two countries' leaders, the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between the two nations has continued to deepen in recent years.
Yunnan province is building itself into a Chinese pivot of opening-up facing South and Southeast Asia. Wang expressed Yunnan's willingness to work with relevant Bangladeshi departments and local governments, carry forward traditional friendship, and expand cooperation across various fields.
Wang Ning hoped the two sides could make full use of the CSAE as a platform for trade and people-to-people exchanges. By smoothing trade and logistics channels, Yunnan and Bangladesh can tap into cooperation potential in agriculture, culture, tourism, new energy, food processing, and other areas.

In his meeting with Maldives Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam, Wang Yubo said that in recent years, friendly exchanges between Yunnan and the Maldives have grown increasingly close, with cooperation deepening steadily.
Wang Yubo noted that this year marks the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, and Yunnan is steadily advancing high-quality development and striving to write its chapter of Chinese modernization.
He expressed hope to work with the Maldivian side to promote bilateral people-to-people exchanges, continue to expand trade volume, strengthen cooperation in agriculture, fisheries, clean energy, culture, tourism, education, and sports.

When meeting with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Santiphab Phomvihane, Wang Yubo noted that the leaders of China and Laos recently held talks in Beijing and reached important consensuses, drawing a new blueprint for the development of bilateral relations.
He said that Yunnan will continue ensuring the smooth operation of the China-Laos Railway and the development along the route, promoting the construction of the China-Laos Mohan-Boten Economic Cooperation Zone, deepening exchanges and cooperation with Laos in various fields.
