China, Myanmar have cultural-exchange event in Yangon



The 2026 China-Myanmar Media Forum and the China-Myanmar Cultural Exchange Week kicked off in Yangon, Myanmar, on July 27.

Officials and representatives from media outlets, universities, think tanks, enterprises, and business chambers of both countries came together to discuss the China-Myanmar Paukphaw (fraternal) friendship and explore new ways for bilateral cultural exchanges.

A cultural show is staged at the event.

Since its inception in 2019, the China-Myanmar Media Forum has been held for five sessions, becoming a major brand event for fostering mutual understanding and communication between the two countries.

The forum was paired in 2024 with the China-Myanmar Cultural Exchange Week, expanding bilateral cooperation from mere media dialogue to broader people-to-people bonds and cultural exchanges.

When the 2026 South and Southeast Asian Media Network Annual Meeting took place in Yunnan on July 14, the Kunming-themed activities of this year's China-Myanmar Media Forum has already kicked off.

A cultural exhibition at the event is bustling with visitors.

The Yangon event marks the first time the forum has been held in Myanmar.   

Multiple media and cultural institutions from China and Myanmar launched new cooperative projects at the cultural-exchange opening, covering news resource sharing, content production, book publishing, and youth exchanges.

The trial chapters of the Myanmar-language edition of Gems of Classical Chinese Prose (Guwen Guanzhi) were released at the event.

A brainstorming session was staged for the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor development.

The event was hosted by the Ministry of Information of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Publicity Department of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China.

It was organized by Myanmar Radio and Television, Yunnan Daily Press Group, Yunnan International Communication Center for South and Southeast Asia, China Cultural Center in Yangon, and the Yunnan Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar.
