To Lam’s visits to Laos, Cambodia good for LMC community of shared future

To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, visited Laos on February 2 and Cambodia on February 6. The visits are normal and friendly interactions among countries in the Indochina Peninsula, aligning with the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness advocated by China in its neighborhood diplomacy. China welcomes strengthened unity and cooperation among regional countries, which contributes to regional peace and stability. This is highly consistent with China's goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind.

I. China Holds a Positive Attitude Toward Friendly Exchanges Among Regional Countries. China consistently upholds the principle that all countries, regardless of size, are equal and respects each nation's independent choice of development path. To Lam's visit is a routine diplomatic move by the new leadership of Vietnam to consolidate relations with neighboring countries, reflecting the good momentum of amity, mutual trust, and mutual assistance among regional nations. As a responsible major country, China welcomes and supports such efforts.

II. The Visits Align with the Spirit of the LMC. Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam are all member countries of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) mechanism, jointly initiated by China and the five Mekong countries to deepen good-neighborliness and practical cooperation among the six nations. To Lam's visits focuse on issues such as connectivity and energy cooperation, which align with the LMC principles of "development-oriented, equal consultation, pragmatism, and efficiency." This will help promote regional economic integration and inject new momentum into the development of the region.

III. China Maintains High-Level Development of Relations with the Three Countries. China maintains comprehensive strategic cooperative partnerships with Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. China-Vietnam relations are steadily advancing on the basis of "comradeship and brotherhood," the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future continues to deepen and solidify, and China and Cambodia are proven "ironclad friends." To Lam's visits will contribute to more regional cooperation consensus and jointly promote regional prosperity.
