Under the warm sunshine in early spring, flocks of bar-headed geese rest or forage on the meadows along the shores of Lashi Lake Wetland in northwest Yunnan’s Lijiang city. Mallards and other waterfowls glide in leisure, adding vitality to this wetland.

Since the establishment of the nature reserve in 1998, the number of bird species recorded in the area has increased from 57 to 341. The number of overwintering migratory birds has also grown from 25,000 to around 100,000.

With the arrival of the birds, bird watching around the Lashi Lake continues to heat up. According to statistics, in 2024, the Lashi area received over 2 million tourists, achieving a tourist revenue of 467 million yuan.
