The 20th Mojiang International Twins Festival will take place from May 1 to 5 in Mojiang county, southwest Yunnan's Pu'er city, local authorities said at a press conference.

A performance is staged at the press conference in central Yunnan’s Kunming city.

This year's festival coincides with the 65th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between China and Laos. More than 1,000 pairs of twins from Southeast Asian countries are expected to gather in Mojiang, according to the organizer.

A series of cultural activities, including a festive parade, bonfire parties, folk custom processions, and an evening gala, will be held for the international event.

A performance is staged at the conference site.

During the festival, public parking lots will be free of charge, temporary parking lots will be added for the travel rush, and four temporary shuttle bus lines will be in operation.

Mojiang is the only Hani autonomous county in China. The Tropic of Cancer runs through the county, giving it the geographical distinction of being "the place where the sun turns."

Mojiang twins of different ages extend an invitation to their global peers at the presser.

Official statistics show that Mojiang is home to more than 1,200 pairs of twins, with a twin birth rate of 8.7 per 1,000 — 4.35 times higher than the global average. This has been the county's defining cultural symbol.

According to the organizer, the festival has invited in more than 18,000 pairs of twins from over 40 countries and regions, making it a signature event for Pu'er's international cultural exchanges.
