2025 China-ASEAN youth culture week concludes in Bangkok

Celebrations at the ASEAN Venue of the 2025 China-ASEAN Youth Culture Week were successfully held in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 10. With the theme of “Shaping a Shared Future · Building a Clean and Beautiful Homeland”, the event gathered more than 60 representatives from international organizations, enterprises, and youth groups of China and ASEAN countries.



Speeches were delivered by Suriyan Vichitlekarn, Executive Director of the Mekong Institute; Yang Tianhua, President of the ASEAN-China Commerce Association(ACCA); and Li Hongru, Deputy Director of the CICG Center for International Cultural Communication. They expressed their hopes for young people to take concrete actions in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals and jointly usher in a new era of green growth and shared prosperity.

Hosted by Suriyan Vichitlekarn, Executive Director of the Mekong Institute, the roundtable dialogue centered on the theme of “Greening Together: China-ASEAN Green Cooperation and Youth Opportunities”.

Wang Jian, Program Manager of Sustainable Energy and Environment Department, Mekong Institute, introduced the institute’s practical achievements in promoting young people’s in-depth participation in regional green development through platform-building. He called on all parties to support youth involvement in the decision-making and implementation processes of green cooperation.

Diego Ma, Executive Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Commerce Association, discussed the opportunities and missions of youth in regional green development from the perspectives of policy coordination and industrial transformation between China and ASEAN in this field.

Liu Siyang, Leading technical expert of China Southern Power Grid, stated that green cooperation is a common language for China and ASEAN, and youth are the driving force for regional green transformation. He shared that CSG empowers youth growth through practical cooperation, including cross-border power interconnection projects, scholarship incentives, and talent cultivation programs.

In the session of “My Green Way: Youth Innovation Initiatives and Personal Growth Narratives”, three youth representatives shared the growth opportunities and mutual benefits brought by China-ASEAN green cooperation from their personal experiences.

Chu Yaqi, a representative of youth sustainable innovation practitioners from China, shared unique insights based on her personal journey from rural volunteer teaching to engaging in public utilities, and put forward the concept of “Cultivate People, Thus Cultivating Solutions”.

Wachirapohn Khonarp, a Thai employee of China Southern Power Grid, shared insights from her own life journey. She detailed CSG’s concrete actions in Lancang-Mekong countries, such as supporting renewable energy development, providing stable power services, and promoting connectivity among peoples through transmission facility construction. She emphasized that it is the human connections that make green cooperation possible.

Natvara Pichedpan, a Thai international student at Tsinghua University, drawing on her experience in international youth projects, discussed how young people can contribute their wisdom to global issues. She called for sustained efforts to promote cooperation among young people from China, ASEAN, and the world to jointly create a green, smart, and inclusive future.

Celebrations at the ASEAN Venue (Thailand) of the 2025 China-ASEAN Youth Culture Week were jointly organized by the Mekong Institute, the CICG Center for International Cultural Communication, and China Southern Power Grid Lancang-Mekong International Co., Ltd. The series of activities received support from the ASEAN-China Centre, with special support from the International Cooperation Center.
