China, Laos and Vietnam have joint emergency response drill in Pu’er
Medics test samples suspected of being infected with highly pathogenic viruses.
A joint emergency response drill for cross-border infectious diseases was held in Jiangcheng county, southwest Yunnan’s Pu'er city, from October 14 to 15, as part of the China-Laos-Vietnam Cross-Border Infectious Disease Emergency Response Drill 2025.
The drill was attended by 241 delegates and health experts from Vietnam’s Ministry of Health and provincial health agencies, Laos' Ministry of Health, the China Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the emergency health response team from Yunnan province.
Disinfection goes on at a site of the infectious disease.
This is the first time that China, Laos and Vietnam have organised a comprehensive cross-border infectious disease emergency response exercise, covering the entire process, chain and elements.
The drill aims to test and improve the coordinated emergency response capabilities of the involved three countries, enhance the regional response mechanisms, and strengthen the capacity to handle key infectious disease outbreaks at the border areas.
A drill attendee uses a drone to transport samples for test.
