Breaking: Nepal PM steps down amid protest
The Nepalese Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli, who is also the Chairman of Nepal's Unified Marxist-Leninist, has resigned on September 9 amid a violent domestic protest.
Earlier, the Nepalese PM's private house in Balkot Bhaktapur was set on fire by Gen Z protesters.
The protesters also vandalized the Hilton Hotel in Kathmandu, Nepal, and the Kathmandu International Airport has been closed.
They even stormed the office building of Nepal's Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) and set the building on fire.
Military helicopters hovered over the Prime Minister's official residence, Baluwatar, in a bid to evacuate ministers after the fire broke out at the minister's residence in Bhaisepati.
It is believed that the army has moved top leaders, including Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who are said to be in Baluwatar, to a safe place.
Nine people have been flown in 2 army helicopters from the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar, but it is not yet clear who were among them.
