Chua Xiao Ming, a Malaysian girl studying at southeast China’s Xiamen University, visited August 4 the Nanyang Mechanics Memorial Hall of Kunming Museum in central Yunnan, where she recognized a distant relative in the historical photographs.

Deeply moved by the stories of the overseas Chinese drivers and mechanics from Southeast Asia, she now wishes to pursue doctoral study on these wartime volunteers, who contributed a lot to the Chinese war efforts in the 1940s.

Chua Xiao Ming is taking part in an on-going international communicators training camp under the Yunnan Hand in Hand Program. The training camp coincides with the events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War.
