“When the clay starts to take shape in my hands, I always feel it is no longer just an object, but a form of cultural expression,” Gui Shaopeng, Master of Arts and Crafts of the Hongnitang Culture & Media Company based in Zhengzhou city, central China’s Henan province.

Gui has been thinking about how to bring clay sculpture into more people’s lives, so he integrated clay sculpture techniques into Yixing purple-clay teapots and teacups, choosing to recreate the cultural symbols that people are interested in.
