This event focused on key issues in life sciences, biopharmaceuticals, and the general-health industry, including cutting-edge technologies, application scenarios, and industrial development.
It brought together academicians, renowned experts, scholars, as well as representatives from universities, research institutions, and enterprises across China. Through the exchange of ideas, sharing of experiences, and integration of resources, the participants explored new methods to tackle clinical challenges.
In his opening speech, Wu Hao, a clinical expert and president of the Ninth People’s Hospital affiliated with the School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, pointed out that in recent years, emerging cutting-edge technologies, such as precision medicine and AI-assisted diagnosis, have brought revolutionary changes to clinical practice.
Wu added that the application of digital technology has enhanced the precision and efficiency of clinical diagnosis and treatment, while developments in interventional devices and surgical robots have improved the surgeries for patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
Wu suggested that clinical experts should actively participate in clinical trials of new technologies and therapies to accelerate the translation of scientific research results into clinical applications, ultimately benefiting patients.

The Tengchong Scientists Forum has been held annually in west Yunnan’s Tengchong county-level city three times. As a key branch of the forum, this conference facilitated academic exchanges on cerebrovascular diseases, cardiovascular diseases, medical innovation and translation, and medical tourism and wellness.
The forum was included in the “Action Plan List of the Ministerial Meeting on Global Civilizations Dialogue” released on July 11, marking its official entry into the ranks of major activities for global-civilization dialogue.
Other participants said that Yunnan possesses rich resources in biodiversity, unique advantages in regional location, strong policy support, and enormous potential for developing the life sciences and holistic health industry.
They added Yunnan is renowned as the “Plant Kingdom,” “Animal Kingdom,” and “Home of Medicinal Herbs,” hosting more than half of China’s plant and animal species. Noteworthy local medicinal herbs include Panax notoginseng, Erigeron breviscapus, Gastrodia elata, Dendrobium, and Yunnan Paris polyphylla.
The medical experts noted that Yunnan serves as a “Cradle of Innovation” for biomedicine. It has cultivated industrial clusters specializing in vaccines, blood products, and modern traditional Chinese medicine, alongside growing holistic health sectors such as medical devices, health food, and wellness tourism.
From a regional perspective, they mentioned, Yunnan connects the Chinese market with the 2.6-billion-population South and Southeast Asian markets, positioning itself as a hub for cross-border trade, technological cooperation, and medical service exports.
