Having recognized a distant relative at the Nanyang Mechanics Memorial Hall of Kunming Museum in central Yunnan, Chua Xiao Ming, a Malaysian girl studying at southeast China’s Xiamen University, received a gift book from Li Xiaofan, deputy curator of the museum, on August 5.

The Nanyang Mechanics refers to the volunteering overseas Chinese drivers and mechanics from Southeast Asia, who returned to their forefathers’ hometown China and contributed a lot to the Chinese war efforts in the 1940s.

Chua Xiao Ming is taking part in an on-going international communicators training camp under the Yunnan Hand in Hand Program. The training camp coincides with the events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War.
