The 2025 Myanmar media tour to west China was just concluded, having taken the Myanmar journalists to Yunnan province, Sichuan province, and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. Here is their first impression on China’s Yunnan.

Ye Naing Soe, editor-in-chief of Pauk-Phaw Monthly Magazine, said Yunnan, known as "south of colorful clouds," is a vital place that carries the traditional friendship between Myanmar and China.

“The province always offers me new perspectives. I was thrilled to arrive in Kunming to participate in the media tour to west China,” said Ye Naing Soe, adding China boasts a long history over 5,000 years, which deserves an in-depth exploration.

Ei Thu Zar, program director of Monnect Group, said she felt exhilarated to witness the development of modern China firsthand, noting the climate of Yunnan resembles that of Pyin Oo Lwin in Myanmar.

“This is my first overseas trip. Upon arriving in Kunming, Yunnan, I sensed its cleanliness and beauty. To me, Kunming is a highly livable city,” said San Nu Khin, a reporter at the Sky Net TV.

Learning that the visit would take the Myanmar journalists to the old town of Dabancheng in Xinjiang, San Nu Khin was excited, adding she was delighted to have the opportunity to see the traditions of a Uygur community.
