Expert: Enhancing Vietnam-China cooperation is the right path

In a recent exclusive interview with Mekong News Network, Yunnan International Communication Center for South and Southeast Asia (YICC), a Vietnam-based expert specializing in international economic affairs said enhancing Vietnam-China cooperation is the right choice to deal with the Trump tariffs.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity given the sensitivity, the expert responded to the development where the United States on July 2 (local time) reached a trade agreement with Vietnam. Under the deal, all Vietnamese exports to the U.S. will face tariffs of at least 20%.

He elaborated that strengthening collaboration between Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises in key sectors—including renewable energy and green technology, electric vehicles and lithium batteries, as well as high-tech agriculture and deep processing—is the optimal path forward.
