The Memorial Park and Memorial Hall for the Nanyang Volunteer Drivers and Mechanics from Southeast Asia was officially opened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The facility was initiated by the local Kwong Tong Cemetery management and expanded based on the existing Selangor monument for the volunteers who sacrificed their lives in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45).

During their preparation, the Malaysian builders made a special trip to Yunnan to collect historical materials. They visited the Burma Road section in the province and other Yunnan memorial facilities for the Nanyang volunteers.
