When it comes to life evolution and progress, Yunnan and Indonesia remind us of the Cambrian explosion, the Sangiran site, and the Ombilin coal mine. A tour to these sites is like a time travel. Are you ready?
Yunnan’s Cambrian theme park
Chengjiang Fossil Site
During the Cambrian period around 518 million years ago, the Cambrian explosion occurred. The discovery of the Chengjiang Fossil Site has unfurled the evolution of early life forms on Earth.
Chengjiang Fossil Site
The fossil site is located in central Yunnan’s Chengjiang city. It is the first fossil-related world heritage site in China and the only one of its kind in Asia. The Cambrian fossils discovered here belong to more than 20 phyla and over 300 species. Ancestors of almost all modern animal phyla can be found here. In July 2012, the Chengjiang Fossil Site was officially inscribed on the World Heritage List.

Sangiran Early Man Site
Home to 50% of the world’s known hominin fossils, this site unlocks a prehistoric "chat group," where each fossil whispers tales of our ancestors.
Ombilin Coal Mining Heritage of Sawahlunto
Ombilin Coal Mining Heritage of Sawahlunto
Located in West Sumatra province, Indonesia, the industrial site was developed by the Netherlands East Indies’ government from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. The heritage was built as an integrated system that enabled the efficient deep-bore extraction, processing, transport and shipment of coal. Now the site has been turned into an attraction where visitors can ride motorbikes or visit zoos. Would you like to try?
