Yuxi paper-cut art blooms with beauty

The teachers and students in the Jiangchuan District No. 2 Middle School, central Yunnan’s Yuxi city, recently showcased their innovation on the traditional paper-cut art.

They transformed the paper-cut patterns—such as peonies, plum blossoms, dragons, phoenixes, and magpies—onto beautiful costumes.

The fusion of ancient craftsmanship and modern fashion was highlighted during a cultural performance, where students danced gracefully in their red and blue attire.

The school's art teacher, Li Li, said the flocked fabric used for the costumes balances the rustic charm of paper-cut art with a sleek drape, creating a visual impact.
