Yunnan holds thematic event for cultural-ethical progress in border areas

The Thematic Event for Advancing the "Invigorate Yunnan, Benefit Border Areas" New Era Cultural-Ethical Practice Belt was held in south Yunnan’s Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture on November 4, in a bid to foster mutual learning among ethnic groups and neighboring countries.

Under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Yunnan province has advanced the "Invigorate Yunnan, Benefit Border Areas" cultural-ethical practice belt since the beginning of this year.

The initiative aims to create a cultural-ethical framework with Chinese elements and Yunnan characteristics, using cultural-ethical practices to promote local development, unite ethnic groups, and strengthen border areas.

At the event, individuals from China’s Yunnan province shared their experiences of participating in cultural-ethical practices of the border areas in the new era, while representatives of Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam shared their personal experiences in witnessing and attending the cultural-ethical practices between China and their countries.

The event saw the announcement of five major action plans to invigorate Yunnan, while benefiting the border areas. The Marxism schools of eight Yunnan universities signed co-building agreements with the new era cultural-ethical practice centers in nine prefectures and cities of the province.

Five major action plans are announced to invigorate Yunnan. 

Yunnan International Communication Center for South and Southeast Asia signed a letter of intent for the cultural-road cooperation with the Consulate General of Laos in Kunming.

Zeng Yan, member of the Standing Committee and Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee, attended the event and launched a WeChat mini program for invigorating Yunnan's border areas.

The event was also attended by consuls general of Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia in Kunming; officials from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee; as well as representatives of the related Yunnan departments, media outlets, international students, and international communicators.
