Kunming airport handles 70,000 int’l trips during holidays

During the just-concluded National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays (October 1-8), the Changshui International Airport in central Yunnan’s Kunming city recorded over 70,000 entry and exit trips, according to the Kunming Immigration Inspection Station.
This represents a year-on-year increase of 19.47% compared to the same period in 2024. On October 1 alone, the number of inbound and outbound trips reached 10,600, marking the peak traffic during the holidays.

As a regional air hub for international trips between China and South/Southeast Asia, the Kunming airport saw 25,000 outbound trips by mainland residents during the holidays, a year-on-year increase of 20.5%. Thailand, Malaysia, and Laos ranked as the top three destinations for Chinese residents.
During the holidays, over 6,000 foreign travelers entered China through the airport, a year-on-year increase of 32.06%. Among them, travelers from Malaysia, South Korea, and Singapore accounted for the largest numbers. A total of 3,300 foreign travelers, or 55.13% of the total, entered China under the visa-free policy.

"This is my first trip to China, and it happened to coincide with China's Golden Week for tourism. I've experienced a thick festive air," said Surachai, a traveler from Thailand. "The clearance at Kunming Airport is fast, which makes me look forward to this trip to China even more."
