Bergamot brings extra income to villagers in Pu'er

At the planting base in Chesha village of Pu'er city in southwest Yunnan, trees are laden with ripe bergamots, and farmers are busy harvesting them. "Currently, the yield of bergamots is 800 kilograms per acre, and we have already sold 20 tons, generating an income of 500,000 yuan," said Guo Zhenpeng, the base's manager.

In 2024, Xinfu Town planted a total of 100.93 hectare of bergamots, with 61.3 hectare already in production. And it is expected to yield a total value of 7.48 million yuan. The industry has become one of the main sources of income for the locals.
