This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic relations. The six decades have witnessed remarkable achievements made by joint hands of the two countries. And Yunnan province definitely played a role in the story.

Yunnan has the largest coffee plantation area in China and in which, the first coffee tree was actually planted by a French missionary in 1904. Back then, he just wanted to drink this later globally popular beverage. Thus, he brought seedlings from Vietnam and planted them outside the church of Zhukula village of Binchuan county in Dali Bai autonomous prefecture. Later, many more were planted. After more than a century, coffee now has a significant role in displaying Yunnan’s lifestyle.

Zhukula village has great conditions for growing coffee with now about a thousand ancient coffee trees in the gardens. With years of development in producing coffee, the village has won reputation.
