The Bắc Giang province in northeast Vietnam is ramping up efforts to support digital transformation within its enterprises, according to Mai Sơn, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.
The province has set ambitious goals, aiming for 50 per cent of all small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to adopt digital platforms by 2025, increasing this to 70 per cent by 2030.
The province is providing assistance to businesses in adopting digital technologies, fostering the development of digital enterprises and encouraging the application of digital advancements across various economic and social sectors.
Bắc Giang is also supporting enterprises in joining e-commerce platforms, developing websites with e-commerce functions and establishing connections with supply-demand networks in specific industries, Sơn said.
From now until 2025, the Bắc Giang Department of Planning and Investment will focus on policies to attract investment, prioritising digital technology companies, high-tech industries and e-commerce operations. The aim is to facilitate the growth of new economic models based on digital technology within the province, creating favourable conditions for digital transformation.
The department is also exploring the establishment of a specialised IT industrial zone, potentially linked to the Quang Trung Software City chain, to attract high-quality investments and foster the growth of digital enterprises. Support initiatives will also be launched for SMEs, traditional industries and manufacturing enterprises to transition to digital platforms for their products and services, he said.
Furthermore, the Department of Information and Communications is offering big data analysis on market trends via the province's Open Data portal. This helps enterprises devise digital transformation strategies aligned with economic development goals. Collaboration with major corporations such as Viettel, VNPT and FPT is also being encouraged to steer businesses towards unified digital economic strategies.
The Department of Industry and Trade is driving digital transformation through various e-commerce promotion initiatives on leading platforms like Lazada, Shopee, Tiki, and Sendo. The department is also promoting digital payment solutions, mobile payment utilities, e-wallets, and QR code systems to ensure secure transactions and boost e-commerce activity.
Since 2021, Bắc Giang has significantly ramped up digital transformation efforts to support local businesses. The province has implemented multiple plans and decisions to encourage the development of products, services and new economic models rooted in digital technology.
Bắc Giang has also simplified market entry procedures for digital technology companies, integrating administrative processes such as social insurance registration, labour reporting and tax invoice registration into a streamlined business registration system. Collaborative efforts with Base.vn and the FPT-Bắc Giang Digital Transformation Programme aim to support 1,000 enterprises in digital transformation by 2025.
