Over 2,000 delegates to attend 44th, 45th ASEAN Summits

Some 2,000 delegates and about 1,000 journalists from Laos and other countries are expected to attend more than 20 meetings during the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related summits, which are taking place in Laos from October 8-11.
The meetings will be attended by heads of state and government from ASEAN member countries, dailogue partner countries, external partner countries and representatives of regional and international organisations from more than 30 countries and entities.
The figures were cited during a briefing by the ASEAN Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on preparations for the summits.
The meeting took place in Vientiane on Friday and was chaired by the department’s Director General, Mr Chatoulong Bouasisavath.
Those attending the briefing included members of the sub-committees in charge of various affairs preparing for the summits.
The event was also attended by representatives of the embassies of ASEAN member countries, ASEAN dailogue partner countries and non-ASEAN partner countries, as well as regional and international organisations in Laos and the staff of each related sub-committee, totalling 300 people in all.
The purpose of the meeting was to inform about all-round arrangements for the upcoming summits and related meetings.
After the briefing, attendees toured the designated meeting venues at the National Convention Hall, as well as the specific rooms arranged for delegations from each country, restaurants, the banquet hall, and parking areas.
