“We’re willing to increase exchanges and cooperation with the Nicaraguan side, sharing experiences in poverty reduction and agricultural planting and contributing to the human community of shared future,” said Shi Yugang, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Yunnan Provincial Committee, on July 2.

Shi said this in central Yunnan’s Kunming city, when meeting with a visiting delegation of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) of Nicaragua, led by Francisco Ramon Valenzuela Blandon, Party Secretary of Estelí Department.

Welcoming the Nicaraguan delegation, Shi noted that Yunnan attaches great importance to agriculture and rural development, designing Yunnan-featured agricultural products to increase farmers' income and fusing the poverty-alleviation achievements into rural revitalization.

Shi added that under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in recent years, Yunnan aims to be an example for ethnic unity, a pacesetter in eco-progress and the Chinese pivot of opening-up to south-southeast Asia.

Focusing on high-quality development and using its unique resources and location, the province is developing port economy in border areas and resources-based economy, with modern industrial gardens emerging one after another.

For his part, Francisco Valenzuela said the Yunnan experience in poverty alleviation, ethnic unity, Party building and others is worth learning.

“I hope that the two sides could increase people-to-people exchanges, mutual understanding and friendly cooperation in various fields,” he said.

Francisco spoke highly of the development achievements made by China and Yunnan in recent years and he also congratulated the CPC on its 103rd anniversary.
