The number of inbound and outbound tourists at south Yunnan’s Hekou border crossing reached 2.493 million in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 58.9%.

Hekou customs officers serve the cross-border tourists.

Given cross-border tourism boom in the China-Vietnam border areas, the Hekou customs officers have rolled out measures to better check up the passengers’ baggage and stop the infectious diseases from spreading.

“My family and I are about to visit Vietnam and we feel it safer to travel overseas now thanks to the careful services by customs officers,” said Ms. Wang, a tourist from north China’s Shandong province.
