Unveiling the essence of Sri Lanka
Before I came to Sri Lanka, my impression of the country was of its vibrant culture and passionate people. After arriving, I discovered that the real Sri Lanka is even more wonderful.

Once I read a very clever quote describing Sri Lanka: “it can hold all the fun of the world.” I have witnessed stunning sunrises and sunsets, torrential storms over the dramatic Indian Ocean, ubiquitous temples, and wild national parks. These extraordinary landscapes are truly captivating.
Diving, whale watching, hiking, visiting safaris, celebrating Kandy Esala Perahera, and throwing beach parties—Sri Lanka’s profound history has nurtured its honest and caring people. Everything here has left a deep impression on me.

In Sri Lanka, the famous fish market in Negombo, showcasing the authentic and simple life of the fishermen, is not to be missed. Trincomalee, located on the easternmost part of the island, offers the most beautiful sunrises over the Indian Ocean. If you’re interested, you can watch the whales in the jelly-blue sea, which will be an unforgettable and wonderful adventure.

Kandy Esala Perahera was an unforgettable experience for me. The grand spectacle of this large-scale religious celebration highlights the uniqueness of Sri Lanka to visitors from around the globe. In Nuwara Eliya, I eagerly took the long-awaited mini train through mountain tea plantations and jungles to reach Ella. The nine-arched bridge in the valley, though weathered, remains magnificent.
The most exciting part, of course, is seeing the wildlife up close and experiencing another of the country’s charms. In Yala National Park, the wild and exuberant atmosphere immediately fills you with excitement. As soon as you enter the park, you will see large animals. As the jeep bumps along the dirt roads, you will see peacocks, rabbits, buffaloes, mergansers, black-tailed grouses, and flying birds everywhere. After a full day on a dusty safari, I finally saw the leopards I had been eagerly anticipating and instantly felt it was all worth it.
The Old Town of Galle on the Indian Ocean coast boasts a history of over 2,500 years. Once a major trade hub, it seamlessly blends Eastern and Western cultures and aesthetics, presenting a unique hybrid character that is both literary and feminine. The fierce storms of the rainy season on the southwest coast add a touch of wildness to its charm.
Sri Lanka is worth returning to time and again. This enchanting land is full of endless charm and surprises. Whether it’s the breathtaking natural scenery, rich cultural heritage, or the warm hospitality of its people, everything compels you to linger and be captivated.
