Lancang-Mekong cultural heritages shine during audiovisual week
The 5th Lancang-Mekong Audiovisual Week (LMAW) is going on in the Yunnan places of Kunming, Yuxi and Wenshan these days. Attended by some 400 representatives of the radio and television authorities and major media organizations from the Lancang-Mekong countries and the South Asian countries of Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, the event is displaying the splendid Lancang-Mekong cultural heritages.

Themed “shared landscapes, splendid heritages”, the 5th LMAW aims to enhance mutual understanding and trust among the peoples of China and South and Southeast Asian countries by showcasing their unique intangible cultural heritages. It also seeks to preserve, innovate, and develop the civilizations of these countries through cooperation.
The audio-visual media outlets in Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) countries have long been recording and telling the stories of friendly exchanges, pragmatic cooperation and harmonious coexistence in the region, contributing to mutual understanding and people-to-people exchanges among the LMC countries and beyond.

Thanks to the joint efforts of the LMC national radio and television authorities and media organizations, the Lancang-Mekong Audiovisual Week has emerged as a major mechanism for media exchanges in the region, and it has achieved results in audiovisual program exchanges, co-production of shows, technical exchanges and new media cooperation.
As the Chinese province that sits closest to the five Mekong countries, Yunnan has deepened exchanges and cooperation with these countries via the audio-visual week. Yunnan Media Group has joined hands with the Mekong peers in broadcasting Chinese TV plays, cooperating with the Lao and Cambodian TVs in jointly opening new digital channels and creating the Lancang-Mekong Audiovisual APP.

Yunnan also joined hands with Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia in translating excellent film and television programs in the LMC countries, with 143 audio-visual works displayed on more than 60 region media outlets. China TV dramas such as "Meet Yourself" and "Ode to Joy" are now popular in Mekong countries.
