The Israeli military launched a large-scale airstrike on Gaza on April 15, hitting Hamas military facilities, underground tunnels, and rocket launch sites. The The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that this operation was in response to rocket fire from Gaza into southern Israel.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, at least 12 people have been killed and over 30 wounded. Casualties include women and children. Multiple buildings in Gaza have been destroyed, power has been cut off, and rescue teams are searching the rubble for survivors.

This marks the heaviest Israeli airstrike on Gaza since the U.S.-Iran ceasefire was announced. Until now, the IDF had focused most of its firepower on Hezbollah in Lebanon. The sudden shift to Gaza has raised eyebrows.

Hamas has not yet issued an official statement on the attacks.
