Since the China-Laos Railway began operations, the total number of passenger trips has exceeded 70 million, said China Railway Kunming Group on March 31.
Some 780,000 passengers from more than 120 countries and regions have traveled via the international passenger trains on the railway. The average monthly passenger volume has increased from 600,000 in the early stages of operation to a peak of 2.25 million.

As of now, China-Laos Railway has operated over 3,100 international passenger trains. The number of cross-border passenger seats per train has increased from an initial 250 to 420, and the daily number of cross-border passenger trips has risen from around 300 to a peak of over 1,600.
Since the beginning of this year, the railway has recorded a total of 5.9 million passenger trips, a year-on-year increase of 7.8%. The cross-border passenger trips added up to 110,000, a year-on-year increase of 32.3%.
